Binah.ai Adds Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD) Risk Detection

Binah.ai, the leading provider of software-based, artificial intelligence (AI)-powered health and wellness checks, announced today the addition of ASCVD (Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease) risk to its health and wellness check software.

Binah.ai’s technology empowers organizations to enable anyone to self-monitor and share a wide range of health and wellness indicators using a smartphone or tablet, whether through spot or continuous checks. The software-based solution measures important health data including blood pressure, heart rate, heart rate variability, respiration rate, mental stress, hypertension risk, diabetes risk*(*under research), fall detection and many more. It also offers bloodless blood tests such as hemoglobin* and hemoglobin A1c* (*under research). Additional indicators will be available soon.

Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD) risk is a measure used to estimate an individual’s likelihood of developing cardiovascular diseases, such as heart attack and stroke, for the next 10 years. This risk is calculated using factors like age, gender, blood pressure, cholesterol levels, smoking status, diabetes, and other health conditions.

Binah.ai’s new ASCVD risk detection feature uses the well-known Framingham risk score combined with health indicators measured by Binah.ai to assess an individual’s cardiovascular risk for the next 10 years. This capability allows the insurance and wellness providers to save end-users’ the need for trips to the lab, blood pressure cuffs, or visits to the clinic and empowers them to check their health risks right from their smartphones. Binah.ai’s ASCVD risk detection has shown very close correlation with ASCVD risk measured with traditional methods using blood test labs and blood pressure monitoring cuffs.

Binah.ai’s assessment is based on the public domain databases that help identify high-risk individuals who may benefit from preventive measures, including lifestyle modifications and medication. ASCVD risk assessment aids in early detection and personalized management, ultimately reducing the risk of cardiovascular events.

ASCVD risk is categorized into low, moderate, or high: Low Risk: Less than 5% chance of cardiovascular events within 10 years. Moderate Risk: 5% to 20% chance within 10 years. High Risk: Greater than 20% chance within 10 years.

High ASCVD risk is often associated with conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, diabetes, and smoking. Regular monitoring and consultation with healthcare providers are essential for managing and mitigating ASCVD risk through appropriate lifestyle changes and medical interventions.

“Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) is a global health crisis, leading to death, disability, and a significant burden on healthcare systems worldwide. Early detection and lifestyle modifications are crucial for preventing and managing ASCVD,” says David Maman, Co-Founder and CEO of Binah.ai. “Armed with this data, the insurance and wellness sectors can empower their end-users to prevent ASCVD, while better managing risk, offering personalized services, and optimizing costs.”, continues Maman.

How can the insurance and wellness industries benefit from the new risk detection?

Organizations in the insurance sector can greatly benefit from the new ASCVD risk detection by enabling better management of future risks and claims, more accurate policy pricing, streamlined processes, reduced operational costs, and increased digitalization. Additionally, they help end-users address developing health issues in a timely manner. Underwriting, straight-through processing (STP), and dynamic underwriting are some use cases that can gain the most from Binah.ai’s new risk detection.

In the wellness industry, service providers can help end-users monitor their current and potential future wellbeing status, prompting them to take timely, life-changing measures to improve their health by using objective, real-time health data.

When will the ASCVD risk feature be available at Binah.ai?

The ASCVD risk will be available for organizations in Q1/2025 through Binah SDK.
